I had the experience of one of my cats eating a piece of the string part of the mask. The few cats that have been diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 have likely picked up the virus from humans. The pets that have been infected with SARS-CoV-2 have had a mild form of the disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>House cats are especially at low risk since they socially distance with everyone except for those humans inside their own home. If you know that you have SARS-CoV-2, it is recommended to isolate from your pet ferret, dog, cat, or hamster. If you cannot isolate from your pet while you are sick, it is recommended to wear a mask and wash your hands before and after you interact with them (AVMA 2020). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also recommended to keep your cat or dog away from other potentially positive humans. This may include not letting your cat outdoors, if possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your pet becomes ill while any of their caregivers are infected with COVID 19, please inform your veterinarian.
